Hi,
I've found my gg grandfather, George Webster (b. about 1840) in the 1881 Census. Unfortunately he is shown as a widower, living at Goodwins Yard, Dronfield. There are 3 children under the age of 10, so his wife must have been alive in 1871. Can someone find her name and birthplace so I can have a go at finding their marriage registration.

A possible marriage for you is in Sheffield q/e March 1864 Jane Sharp, vol 9c page 382.
On the 1861 census Jane Sharp(e) aged about 16 was a female servant in Dronfield (birthplace Dronfield), and in 1851 she was at her grandparents house (William & Sarah Sharpe) in Green Lane Dronfield, with what looks like her parents Robert & Caroline Sharpe and 2 other of their children, Sarh & Ann.
Hope it turns out to be the correct one especially as you get the grandparents on the census too.
All the best
Shirl

Thanks for all that great information Cazay and shirl100, it is exactly what I needed...
Shirl100, yes, I had come to the same conclusion, I think Jane Sharp is the most likely candidate. The additional information is fantastic. I wonder when and why the "e" got dropped. Looks like a whole lot more birth and marriage certificates to order...
In this case I think I will also get a death certificate, sadly, Jane Webster (nee Sharp(e)) died in 1879 aged only 33.
Again, many thanks to you both.
