I am trying to trace my Great Grandfather, William David Sharpe on the 1861 Census.

He was born in Ely, 24 November 1854. The census returns for 1871-1901 all state he was born in Ely, Cambridgeshire. His parents were David & Catherine (nee Bradley). Catherine died sometime between 1854 and 1871 as on the 1871 Census, David's 2nd wife is Hannah (nee Willis).

Can you please post the 1871 information, it would help to tace them in 1861, ie where father born and occupation.

Most of the 1861 Ely census was destroyed by a flood before it was filmed, so if the family was still living there it's lost and gone forever I'm afraid.
