Hi Jona
Just picked this one up. Are you still looking?
If so could you give us any info that you have - any parents names, date of marriage to Mary, children, any census information, etc.
There was a fair amount of movement between Merionethshire and Montgomeryshire at that time.

Added - just seen your posting on Montgomeryshire

Hi Glyn
I've just had a look at the Corwen registers. There are three Morris/Maurice Jones baptisms but none in 1789. I'll list them for you just in case:
4 Feb 1781 Maurice to Robert and Jane of Corwen 11 Dec 1785 Maurice to John and Catherine of Wayn fawr, Tre'r Ddol 15 Aug 1809 Morris to Morris and Catherine of Corwen
Nothing in Glyndyfrdwy. Maybe Carrog - I'll check.
It seems a long way to travel. Mine went from near Bala to Llangynog.
Did they marry in Montgomeryshire?

Hi Glyn
A little bit more information. I think this is their marriage:
Llanllwchaiarn. 4 May 1825 Morris Jones, widower of the parish of Newtown and Ann Richards, spinster ofthis parish by Banns. Witnesses - Evan Williams and Edward Jones
Had you got this?

Hi you've been busy. I have a birth place of Corwen from the census and know no more about him. The marriage to Ann was from MI at Mochdre church from Stan. If he was widower when marring Ann he must have married three times. I wondered how he came from Corwen to be a landowner at Mochre. Is any information available on-line, if not I would like to visit the area, where would I need to go ? Glyn

Hi Gadget I think I need to visit Newtown area first to firm up some later links. It is an area I know better from my younger days. I wonder abut the Corwen link, although it is from the census. I wonder if their is any information about the land of the farm, did he inherit it or marry into it. Thanks for the links I get onto them,Glyn.
