i am trying to find out why eva kate hulin died in braunton reg district of banstable

last known census is 1901 in wales with her sister & her sister family

then she dies in

lyness colley park road braunton  ... eva was living of private means

informant was irene edna lyons

does this address still excists?

any ideas on how i can find out why she ended up there

any lyons still living at same address ?

This is what I found on her ~ you probably have it already:

Name: Eva Kate Hulin Birth: Dec 1879 - Westbury On Severn, Glos
Name: Eva K. Hulin Born c 1880 - East Dean, Gloucestershire
1881 living Westbury On Severn - East Dean, Gloucestershire
Name: Eva Kate Hulin Birth: abt 1880 - 21 born Blakeney, Gloucestershire
Living 1901 - Newport, Monmouthshire, Wales
James George Jones 31
Amy Grace Jones 29
Allan Hulin Jones 6 months
Eva Kate Hulin 21

As far as I can gather, Newport and Braunton were both ports on the Bristol Channel ~ linking Wales & the West Country, so it wouldn't be that unusual for people travel back & forth.

her sister amy grace jones( nee hulin ) died of tb in 1903 james g jones re marries in 1910- off top of my head

Hi

Yes it does appear that this address still exists, however there are no Lyons registered at the address in the local phone directory...although they could be ex directory.

This is a residential area, no knowledge of any nursing homes etc in this road.

As previous response, Braunton is a village (I think it's claim to fame is it's the largest village in England) between Ilfracombe and Barnstaple. Up until the 1970's (I think) there was a ferry from S.Wales to Ilfracombe and of course pre Beeching there was railway access. Movement between S.Wales and N.Devon has historically been a regular occurrence.

From the information given I would believe that you have the death certificate...you do not give the date of death...does it give any details for Irene, maybe it would be worth following her to see if there is a link.

Sorry cannot be of more help..I do research at Barnstaple Records Office but am unlikely to be able to get there in the next month or so...sorry.

PS I do not live in Braunton, but googled the address and came up on map.

many thanks for the reply

eva kate hulin died 14th may 1970

after foning few places i now she was cremated by someone with surname gosling which was the surname of her eldest sister chiclen

helen hester gosling nee hulin died 1940

also spoken to some newspaper ( name escapes me at the mo ) and said i can put a letter looking for anyone who might have known eva kate etc
