Good morning,
I'm not sure whether I'm in the right place with this one, but I need to start somewhere !
Thomas BARRETT b. 1801 in Westminster was a Chair & Cabinet Maker by trade. His wife was called Anne or Sarah Anne, and according to the Census returns, was born in Salisbury, Wiltshire and seems to be between 6 and 10 years younger than Thomas.
Thomas and Sarah Ann had 5 children, all born in Colchester: Thomas (1838), Elizabeth Mary (1840), Sarah Jane (1843), George E. (1845), and Alfred John (1847).
However, I cannot find a trace of their marriage anywhere, either in Colchester, or Westminster or Salisbury.
In the 1841 Census they were living in Butt Road, Colchester St. Giles, but appear in Clerkenwell in 1851 and 1861.
If anyone could throw some light on this, in particular their marriage and Sarah Anne's maiden name, I would be very grateful.

You will need to get one of the childrens birth certicates which will give you Sarah Ann's maiden name.
Alfred John Barrett..... Dec q. 1847 Colchester 12 - 58
Elizabeth Mary .. Dec q. 1840 Colchester 12 - 46
Thomas ... Sept q. 1838 Colchester 12 - 64
George .... March q. 1845 Colchester 12 - 82
I cannot find Sarah Jane's Colchester in 1843

Cannot see a marriage on the IGI for Essex but there is this one in Wiltshire.
Thomas Barrett - Sarah Doel, 5.8.1838 Westbury, Wilts.
Thought it a possible as Thomas was born Sept g 1838 Colchester but you will know once you have a birth certificate 
They did move about a bit didn't they

Thanks for that. Yes, it is a possibility.
Do you know if Westbury is in the Salisbury area by any chance ?
I have Sarah Jane's Bmd reference (03.1843. Colchester 12.63) - she was my great grandma.
Perhaps they moved about because he was a travelling craftsman..............?

I did check this before but Westbury is a registration dist in its own right.
Sub-districts : Bradley; Edington; North Bradley; Westbury.
Salisbury reg dist ....... St. Edmund.. St. Martin... St Thomas .
