Church in West Horndon abt. 1890
« on: Tuesday 08 April 08 00:16 BST (UK) »

Hi Everyone,

I'm new to this list and I hope my query is appropriate.

My grandfather  Edward Nelson Ellis was born in West Horndon in 1890 his address  on birth cert. is 8 Railway Cottages, West Horndon; on the 1891 England census he appears  aged 9mths old with his family and the address was 18 Station Cottages West Hordon.

The ecclesiastical parish or district on the 1891 census says West Horndon with Ingrave.

Please will someone tell me what church this family would have attended (if they had)?

As far as I am aware my grandfather's religious denomination was C of E.

TIA

Best Wishes Yvonne Hills

Hi reeveh

Welcome to rootschat. It looks as though it could be St Nicholas, found on Genuki.

It is indeed St Nicholas. West Horndon and Ingrave were joined together in 1734.

Hi,

Thank you Keldon & Rosie for taking the time to reply, I had found St.Nicholas on Genuki but I had "googled" churches in West Horndon and had so much information I was totally confused.
