Carl, could this be the family? Spelling is Challinor. Prestbury is very near to Stockport. Prestbury, Macclesfield. HO/107. Piece 131 Book 12. Note only the youngest child born in County. All children have last name of Challinor Simon Challinor 35 Earthenware Dealer Jane Challinor 30 Joseph " 14 Mary 11 Jane 9 Eliza 7 Elizabeth 5 Thomas 3 Mary 8months Don't know why there are two Marys unless one is transcribed incorrectly. Hope this helps. Regards Kathb

I hope the Prestbury one is suitable although it's not very close to Heaton Norris. Also, bear in mind that Heaton Norris comes under Lancashire in the 1841 census under Manchester!
I'd love to know how you think it is Brinksway Place, was it on a certificate or something else?
Cheers

Hi,
I found this,
1841 HO107/582/6 f.23 p.2 Manchester Borough: Stockport Township: Heaton Norris Howard's Square // Jane CHALINER 60 Ind N William " " 20 Cotton Piecer N Samuel " " 15 Cotton power loom tents Y / Edward HORSLEY 25 Cotton Piecer Y Robert " " 20 Cotton Piecer Y Ann ENTWISTLE 20 Cotton P.L Weaver Y Elizabeth " " 9months N //
I realise that Jane is older than you asked for but she does seem to have children around the same age as the daughter Jane who died, if you don't mind me asking where did you get Jane Snr's age of 40'ish?
Regards Daisy

Hello Daisy, this does look to be Jane, i,m afraid my guestimation was a little out. she does have a son William baptised 1.4.1821 at Cheadle St Mary, he would have been 20 in 1841? and a Son Samual baptised 5.8.1827 at Cheadle St Mary, to what could be herself, maybe suggesting her husband Joseph may have died sometime during her pregnancy? She married Joseph Challiner at Cheadle St Marys on the 24.12.1809. I looked at her marriage she may have been 20ish by 1841 she may have been late 40ish? nearer 50ish then - I never was any good at 11 plus maths. would you agree, this looks like her? I have been looking for her a while now, my confusion has been, they have another Son George, baptised 3.7.1814 (this one I know all about) he married at Prestbury Church in 1838 to a Jane Henshall. On the certificate it has Fathers name Joseph Challiner. it doesn't state deceased, so I have always assumed he was still alive? is this right to take these things for granted, as Joseph cannot be found on the 1841 census?any thoughts?

Hi,
This looks like Jane in 1851,
1851 HO107/2155 f.341 p.6 Heaton Norris 335 Howard's Buildgs
Jane CHALENOR Head Wid 66 Domestic Duties Lancashire Denton Samuel " " Son U 23 Bricklayer " " Heaton Norris Martha JOLLIFFE Lodger U 32 Winder Cotton Mill Cheshire Stockport Martin BAYLEY Lodger U 25 Power Loom Weaver Cotton " " Cheadle Emma JOLLIFFE Lodger U 5 Scholar " " Stockport
it helps narrow down her date and place of birth.
I have seen marriage certs where it doesn't show a dead father as deceased and even one or two where it says deceased while father is still alive and kicking, so I would'nt rule out that Joseph died before 1838.
This could be her death,
Jane CHALLENER Mar Q 1855 Stockport 8a 51
maybe if someone could find her burial she might be with Joseph
Daisy
