Will look for 1851 ...no Kitty with them in 1861 ...
Not sure they tie in with the Kitty you need . There is also a prison report on Kitty Emery wife of Peter Emery ....will look at that as well....

Having said that the prison description lists Mary as Married with 9 Children.
In 1841 she has 8 at home by 1851 the 2 boys have left and one girl has been born so thats 9.
Kitty.....for Catherine normally ....and there is a Catherine Emery of Blunham age 23 in 1847 who stands charged with house breaking and "Kitty" has two previous convictions as stated on her record. So is her record also the one who again in 1847 stole a box of wearing apparel and was sentanced to 2 months hard labour. If so she was the wife of Peter Emery but trial record does not say where she comes from .
Thank you so much for all your help Tazzie, you have been really kind. My line comes down from James Emery the son, but I was curious to find out more about Kitty because in 1854 she and Mary Emery were accused of murdering a child(Bedford Goal Site). It is possible that she was the daughter-in-law of Mary Emery and not the daughter as I first thought. I have checked a few of the newspaper sites to see if there was any mention of the trial, but have not found anything yet. According to the Bedford Goal Site the records of the trial are at the National Archives, but I have not worked out how to use that site yet. If all else fails I will try contacting Bedford Library to see if there was any local news coverage at the time. Thank you again for all your help/ Best Wishes Bethan

Tazzie James was born 1825 or 26, in fact you have him in the 1841 census. It is definitely the right family, I am just trying to work out how Kitty was related It is a bit of a puzzle!

Brain storm there couldn't read me own typing yep James .
As you say who is Kitty..... normally short for Catherine/Katherine. Nearest they have is Caroline. On the murder charge it states the two previous so does that relate to 1847.
I would contact the archives as they were helpful when I was tracking a Favell rellie who was a horse thief, once I got more info it was not my William who was involved.
