Has anyone come across this chap by any chance ? He was born in Birmingham 1834 ish. On the 1861 census he is aged 25, & a lodger in Sheffield. By the 1871 census he is back in Birmingham, staying with his parents, he & his sister Rosanna Bibb (17 ) are said to be Clown/Actors. Any info will be much appreciated... Regards, Margaret.
According to John Turner's Victorian Arena...... your Charles Bibb was a clown, born Birmingham, (a brother to the more famous Joseph Bibb), noted at Hengler's Circus in Hull in 1866.
his brother Joseph Bibb was born 1845 in Birmingham, With Hengler 1857-79 and with cooke in 1861/62....... "Wit without vulgarity". In Paris at the Hippodrome he was a favourite for 5 yrs. Dies in Birmingham 15 Dec 1895
There was also a Tom Bibb, a Clown auguste noted at Cirque Ducos, Orleans, France in 1900 but his relationship to Charles and Joseph is not stated.
