I did tell them about the red ink....she did'nt comment on it, originallly I thot "Red Ink" would not have been available at that time....but, have come to find I was wrong.....Thomas Jefferson wrote entries in his works in Red ink in the 1700's....

Yes, Back to Mr. McPherson....
Would be fab if the Windsor Clerk finds the entry and it has "real" parents listed!!! I can only hold my breath and hope.....

Thanks again

To be honest, I'm quite versed in searching in Belfast...have found loads and loads of my Grandad's family there....and many living rellies around th world...but quite a novice when it comes to North American Records....so any advice you can impart would be sincerely appreciated.

The land records should be at the Registry Office in Milton then.  It's really easy to obtain, you just need your lot and conession and twp.  They are quite helpful.  Call the Registry Office first though and make sure they have the "abstract books" before going.  Sometimes, they have gone somewhere else that far back and could be at the McMaster Library in Hamilton.  I know I've searched land records before for Nassagewya, the neighboring twp., but it was at McMaster.

The Ontario Gov't decided these books going back to the Land Patents were not needed anymore and started to get rid of them, well genealogiest found out and saved them, so some are still at the RO's and other's have been moved.

The RO on Stone Road, that's for Wellington County.  It's right on the corner of Stone and Gordon Street by the University.

Thanks for the link....wonder if it was still and Inn circa 1909?  Again, another wee cog in the wheel....hahahaha.

You see I really think there were so many skeletons hidden in the cupboard over the years ... that alot of "embellished" stories may have been told...My Gran was a very proud woman, and didn't like the family laundry aired.....everything was a deep dark secret, may have just been the generation?

Fellow from your photo...William McPherson Moffat marries  an Arnèl E Smith
His parents are listed as John Moffat  & Agnes McPherson
( Agnes is daughter of Malcom McPherson & Janet Robertson of Esquesing )
If Malcolm & Janet's son isn't your John, they surely must be cousins

Hi J.J.....

I thankyou for the information, this family certainly has me baffled....I just received an email from the Clerk, in Windsor, Broome, New York....tell me they have no record  of the marriage for Minnie and John as stated in the Certificate we have....as well, think I found Minnie living in New York in 1900...according to the census....so now I'm really beginning to think they lived Common Law???

I'm thinking the same were definitely related some how....fun enough as well, Janet and Malcolm's son Robert died of a Spinal problem, and John Duncan McPherson's son John Duncan died at 2 yrs with Spinal paralysis.....so definitely a link.....just what One???

Malcolm is so close as John was at Concession V Lot 10??? From accounts I have read in the Halton Paper...Malcom is ill and dies in 1903, John shows up at Con. V Lot 10 in Dec 1903...makes sense that if John was in the USA, would come home to see the ailing father?Huh

All the Best
