I'm trying to trace John Hibbert born abt 1847 @ Hayfield, Derbys, son of Thomas Hibbert and Betty Eastwood, and his 2 daughters.
I have them on the 1881 census, John with wife Jane and children Elizabeth, Herbert and Ellen at the Sportsman's Arms near Mellor. Jane dies of leukemia 6th Nov 1890 - registered by John. Herbert (16)reappears on his uncle William's farm on the 1891 census, but I can't find any trace of the father John or the 2 girls on the 1891 census.
Am I missing something obvious or just going round the twist??!

The phrase from where I grew up would be gob-smacked!! Not only to have got replies so quickly but also to have been lead so gently to results that I realise now I should have been able to find myself!
Tati - Yes I have access for a limited time (soon to end 14 day free trial with ancestry.co.uk), then I have to consider my options. I checked the reference you gave - you're absolutely correct, the right address, everything, even the nephew has the correct surname - Arnfield was Jane's maiden name. Thank you so much.
Wozzle - Thank you too, John and Ellen are both the right ages and living within a stones throw (probably) of the Sportsman's Arms. I think I have a lead on Elizabeth having been married in 1895 so that would fit too. Thanks again.
I'm so glad I found this forum, I'm sure you'll be hearing from me again.
