In the Lafford deanery 1700-1753 marriage index there is:

Benjamin FAVELL* and Martha PARIN* married on 2nd April 1739 at Swaton.

* = person not from the parish where the marriage took place.

I can't find anything else for this period in the surrounding deaneries.

According to the IGI, one of the children was born at Swineshead. That's just over 9 miles away from Swaton.

Swineshead is in the Holland West deanery and there definitely wasn't any Benjamin FAVELL marriages to a Martha for the 1700-54 period.

Hello Claire

I have found a baptism of a Benjamin s/o Mary Fabel by Joseph Brackenberry in 1809 in Gedney. IGI lists this Benjamin as Benjamin Brackenberry and I suspect he was given his father's surname although his parents were not married, at least at the time of his birth.

As his first name was Benjamin I wondered whether his mother Mary who, I am sure, was a Favel, not Fabel, may be descended from your Benjamin, his grandaughter maybe?

Hi Brenda

If Mary was a Favell not Fabel it is a distinct possibility she is one of my Favell's there are so many of them it gets quite confusing  Roll Eyes

I shall have to look in to it further    thanks for letting me know

Best Wishes
