Hi,
I trying to find out what happened to William Hawke, miller in Beccles, who was tried and capitally convicted for the murder of Henry Scarle (1786-87). I want to know if he was reprieved or not. He was tried at Thetford, so may have been hung in Norfolk.
I also want to find out what happened to John Hawk(e), also a miller in Beccles (relative of above?), who was arrested for stealing a large quantity of grain (1792-93). He was held while they investigated if was part of a larger gang that robbed the wherries on the Waveney, but after his arrest I found not entries in the Assize reports. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance, Windy miller
