There is a gap in the passenger records for Saint John, NB between 1860 and 1900. Also ships tended to come to Saint John from the UK during the winter months when the Gulf of St Lawrence is iced up, from about May onwards they went to Montreal or Quebec City. But not everyone who came to New Brunswick sailed into Saint John, many came through Hailfax in Nova Scotia or through Montreal or even through US ports such as Boston or Portland or occassionally through New York so it might be worth looking at US sites. Collections Canada has details of what's availble for Canada and many of the Halifax records are online.
Carolyn PS it is Saint John, NB St John's is in Newfoundland

Hi China, One branch of my ancestors' family ended up in St.John, and still live there today. I know they went to America first - one brother stayed in the United States, and the other travelled on further to New Brunswick. This was in the 1920s(bit later)Travelled to New York from Liverpool. Kind regards, Paulene
