Wailey
« on: Wednesday 09 April 08 20:25 BST (UK) »

Hi everyone,

I am looking for information on Sarah Wailey.  She was born about 1808 in Nottinghamshire.  She married James Crossland in Radford on 14th August 1826 and is on the 1841 census.  She died in nottingham possibly Basford  in the 4Q 1950 possibly through childbirth.

It is strange but on the 1841 census there is a couple called Samuel and Mary Pycroft  both in their 70's living with James and Sarah and then on the 1851 census it states that Mary is a widow and is the mother in law of James.  I think the enumerator has her age transposed as she is listed as being 17 not 71.  Sarah is definately Sarah Wailey and not Pycroft as I have birth certificates for some of James and Sarah's children which state Sarah Crossland formerly Sarah Wailey.

I am trying to find information about her before her marriage and who her parents are.

Kind regards,
Julie

Hi Julie
The term mother in law was often used for what we now call stepmother.

Hi Eric,

Yes I think I am going to work on that idea and see what I can come up with.

I have sent you a reply to the pm.

Thanks and regards,
