Clever you
Ellen is on cemetery database (right underneath Colin's listing) - I did look at her details earlier and thought "perhaps not" ? But now that you've found probate record ... then perhaps, "yes"
Just can't find a New Zealand marriage match though.
[Perhaps he married whilst overseas on army service ?]

Hi Suzy
No, not buried together.
Colin's war record, not at Archives (his reg. no. came from the cemetery transcription - refer to the cem. link).
WW2 military records are held at another location, the following site has details -
http://www.nzdf.mil.nz/personnel-records/archive-enquiries.html
[Obtaining death cert. - a good idea as a copy of it will be required in order to obtain military record]. Lu

Thanks again Lu, We have all but broken this brick wall that has eluded me for almost 15 yrs, what a great break to have a relative save a letter [not interested in research!] and out of the blue share it with me! I now have to be patient and wait for the certificates to arrive......that is going to be hard! I will report back when they arrive. Thank you all for your generosity of help with the look ups and your time and energy to do so thus far! Cheers from a 'Very Happy' Suzy

Hi Suzy

See, they're all out there SOMEWHERE .... just waiting to be found.
AND don't we just love HOARDERS ? Those wonderful people, who keep old letters !
Yes, do please keep us posted ... we like to know the outcomes.
Hope the wait for certs. isn't too long (and that they're full of brilliant info).

Hi
[Yes, the river tragedy, so terribly sad].
I'm thinking the "minister" in the family is more likely Mr. NORRIS (perhaps of Methodist faith ?) ... I wondered where Wesley got his name from ?
Next time I'm looking at electoral rolls, will see if I can find the father (John ? if I remember correctly).

Oops ... got the name wrong .... father's name was indeed "Francis".
Here's his burial (with wife, daughter, and a 7 week old grandson named "Wesley George". No mention though of Francis having been a minister of religion, although perhaps that sort of thing was not necessarily mentioned on a headstone inscription)?

Hi Suzy
Just adding some snippets ....
This looks to be Barbara's first appearance on electoral rolls in NZ :
1925 AUCKLAND WEST GENERAL ROLL
> ANDERSON - Barbara, widow, 25 Ponsonby Terrace :
SO, in 1925 she is a "widow" - (that narrows down the time frame in which to search for Robert's death).
I wonder though, if this might be Robert ?
FREE BMD (UK) - Deaths - June -1921 ANDERSON - Robert (52) - Reg'n. District - Edmonton
[I rechecked at "ancestorsonboard" for "a" Robert or "R" ANDERSON, arriving NZ (anytime) ... can't find a likely match).
