Hi Suzy
A few more snippets.
Just harking back to "Colin ANDERSON" (post # 30, p.3) ... as I said, the NZ Marriage Index doesn't show a match for "a Colin + Ellen".
On checking a few electoral listings, I couldn't find "an Ellen" in the Tokoroa district where Colin was living (even though this lady is buried at Tokoroa Cemetery). I think my guess now would have to be that Colin didn't marry ?
There was a surprise on the e/rolls .... they showed mother Barbara, living at Colin's address !
1957 WAIKATO ELECTORATE
> ANDERSON - Colin, Paraonui Road, Tokoroa, dairy farmer ANDERSON - Barbara, widow, (at same addy)
[Neither of them appeared on the 1954 WAIKATO roll]:
1960 WAIKATO roll
> ANDERSON (# 33) - Colin } (same addy as ANDERSON (# 39) - Barbara } previously)
"Alterations to roll" - shows #'s 33 and 39 were removed from main Waikato roll, since the roll was closed for printing on 7 July 1960. [Possibly around 1960 was when Barbara went to live with her daughter at Te Atatu ??].
Colin next appears on the 1963 "TAUPO ROLL" (perhaps this is due to a change in electoral boundaries? ) ... he is still listed at the Paraonui Road address.

How do I use the above tools, I am darned if I can use colour and font tags?
I have spent hours searching for the marriage of George and Isabella my Great Grandfathers brother, I am wondering if they have all gone to Africa or India or both, wonder why a tailor would go to these detonations??? Army or what?? More you get more you need!!

Aw .... I dunno ..... I rather liked "detonations" followed by the word "Army"
Mmm... yes, I did a wee bit of looking for the McPHERSON/ANDERSON marriage, to no avail.
What was Barbara McPHERSON's age when she married ? (Might be a clue as to whether she was in Africa in the company of her family ?)

Was about to order Colin Anderson's death certificate, so thought on same phone call would order other siblings death certificates as well. Because I don't have all their death dates, only from probate, wondered what would be better their marriages or still go for death certs? They do give clues on children from marriages What do you think? Suzy
