I am not sure what you are looking for, but I am quite sure that I have not found it!!!!
1. This is a beautiful detailed map of the site of an accident. It is the sort of map that should have had "Here be Dragons" in one corner. The telegraph post which the Mouat truck hit is clearly marked. There is a detailed description of the road verges, and the scrub on either side of the road. This all took place inland from Charleston, which is between Greymouth and Westport on the West Coast of the South Island. No date or report/ description anywhere. I spoke to an archivist about it, and he said that they have lots of similar detailed maps, but usually no report of what happened.
2. J A Redpath paid for a private railway siding 6 miles, 50 ? 87 ? from Christchurch. Unfortunately it did not say whether north, south or west of Christchurch. The tenure was for 10 years at Pounds 50 per annum, to be paid quarterly. The starting date of the lease was 1 May 1889.
Are you researching the name Redpath, as we certainly have many of that name in New Zealand.
So, I will not have extended your knowledge, but I do thank you for the chance to look at the wonderful map.
Regards, Jean

Thank you so much for that Jean. I am very grateful.
It was very nice of you to say you enjoyed the map.
Yes, I am researching my Redpath ancestor who had a railway connection. Although there was no relevent information connected to him here, it has crossed another lead off my list and put me back on course !
