Does anyone live in or near Dorking who would be willing to pop into the Dorking Museum off West Street for me? I cannot find a contact email address for them, only snail-mail. They state they have resources concerning Dorking & research facilities, so, as I might be going to the UK in the spring, I'd like to pay them a visit & do a little research there. So that I can go well prepared, I'd like to know if they have a catalouge of their document holdings. Can anyone find out please? The name I'm researching is BRAVERY in & around Dorking. 1750's - 1820's, if you want to drop that into the conversation! Jane

Thanks Ray, Somehow I missed that site. I've emailed two people from there asking for a catalouge of the museum's holdings, or at least a rough idea of what they have for what dates.
Oh, you lucky thing living near the SHC When I was there last year I was hoping they might adopt me so that I never had to leave & I could just sit there and read all the books & look at all the documentation Sadly they declined my offer
I have a very kind lady, who lives in Woking & is researching a twig of the same family & she ploughs through film & fiche for me at Woking, so thank you for your very kind offer.
When I get to the UK in the spring, I'll be the one banging on the door at the SHC at opening time In the meantime, if you ever come across the name BRAVERY, perhaps you can make a note & let me know? Jane
