Hi,
Would appreciate peoples insight into finding information on my elusive great uncle Joseph Curran, born 1882, Liverpool, occupation Bricklayer. Some records already found use Jos. rather than Joseph, so this may have been what he preferred. His parents names were James Michael Curran & Charlotte Atkinson.
What is known so far is that he married my great aunt Martha Ellen Jenkins, Nov 1911 in Liverpool. Joseph travelled from Liverpool to Halifax, Canada on 4th April 1914 aboard the Empress of Britain. Martha Ellen followed him on 6th June 1914, sailing on the Laurentic bound for Montreal. I have documents and Ship's Manifests showing this info.
Addresses where they lived in Canada are below: 1916 130, Dorian Street, Montreal. - where their daughter was born. 1917 971, Dorchester East, Montreal. 1919 60, William Street, Hamilton, Ontario
I believe this is him in Vernon's directory: 1920 CURRAN J. (15, Barton Street E ) 1921 CURRAN Jos. bricklayer ( 15 Barton St. E)
Around 1920-1921 Martha Ellen and their daughter returned to the UK alone, stating that Joseph had been killed in an accident but there has never been anything found to confirm this story.i.e. a Death Certificate or a Burial record. Can anyone advise on a way forward :0)
Regards, Marilyn

There could be another Hamilton in Canada somewhere, but I think your safe to assume it is Hamilton, Ontario as Barton Road is a major Road in Hamilton.
Here's a link to the Ontario Cemetery Finder, there are a couple of Joseph Curran's, but none in Hamilton

Karen....I had found that previously and this is the only one that may fit as the others have middle names: CURRAN Joseph - Rob Roy - Grey - Osprey BG-G-129
Is there anywhere to find a death certificate that would give some indication of the date of death or age of this Joseph Curran? Any help appreciated
Regards, Marilyn

Hi Karen,
Thanks for looking anyway....the search will go on. Joseph's death would need to be some time after 1920.
I did try the www.pagesofthepast.com link but looks like the site has been removed for now. There is just a Network Solutions holding page now.

I have just added Joseph Curran's parents info to my original post #1 in this thread. For those that have already read it I have included the info here too.
>His parents names were James Michael Curran & Charlotte Atkinson.<
Thanks, M
