green/tucking-hawkins.....problem COMPLETED
« on: Saturday 12 April 08 13:04 BST (UK) »

Emily and Harry Hawkins i am assuming married sometime prior or around 1880. She was 28 in 1881 census born, Springfield Essex

I am unable to locate a maiden name for Emily, her second initial is "A" and I believe it may have been Agnis but not as yet proven.

1881 census has them in Whitstable, Kent.......RG11/0964/68/9

Living with MIL Sarah Tucking Widow aged 69

I have looked for a marriage of Emily Tucking to Harry Hawkins around 1880 and drawn a blank.

I have looked for a marriage of Harry Hawkins around 1880 and come up with
Emily Green. ......Birmingham 1880 6d 66. This seems strange as she was born in Essex and he in Kent what would they have been doing in Birmingham.

I have looked for a birth of Emily Green/Tucking, but to date no luck.

It is now after midnight and I am stuck, a pair of fresh eyes and little grey cells would be appreciated.

Hi Alan,

I think 'Harry' is actually Henry on the 1881 census image.

On the 1871 census, Emily's name looks like Lucking.

How about this marriage?
Henry Hawkins HARRIS - Emily Agnes LUCKING

Thanks for that, I knew there was a logical explanation but at that time of the day I could just not work it out..

In the cold light of day it all seems so logical, well not really cold!
