 Hi looking for family of George William Mason Brooks. I think he lived in wigston and then Oadby when he married. Wifes name was Patricia edna Clarke. He was born 1923 and died 1994.

Thanks for all the looking up u have done for me. You are so right I was completley out with the dates. now I know his mothers maiden name. I hate to bother you again but I have just come out of hospital having had an operation on my knee so i can't get to the records office I would be so grateful if you could find me anything on william brooks he died when my dad was young and his mum married again. I think she changed her name to bennett then.

I think you will need to purchase the marriage certificate -there are so many William Brooks
The marriage cert would give father's name and occupation and witnesses may be famly members which would give further clues.
If you can narrow down when he died that may help -if we could find his death reg - then we could find his approx birth year.
or do you know when his mum married again? Were there any children from the 2nd marriage ? if so when was the first one born? This would narrow the time scale of William's death-even then it would mean trawling the index quater by quarter and year by year.
Try to obtain more information No matter how small.

but the nearest match I can find on 1901 census is Ethel Swift age 8 b. Shepshed who is a boarder with william and Eliabeth Coe and family -so that's not really much help - of course, there is also the possibility that Ethel was born somewhere other than Leicester

thanks for all that. I shall start looking into some of all that on monday. The names Ethel Louisa seem to ring a bell, perhaps I heard my dad mention the names way back. Knee is coming along well thanks as long as i keep doing the exercises and rest and walk about.
