PEARCE - St.Germans
« on: Saturday 12 April 08 08:46 BST (UK) »

Does anyone know how I might track down where Samuel Pearce had his cobblers/shoe business in St.Germans in the late 1800's ? He lived in Widegates  but his letters were sent through St Germans according  to Kelly's directory.
I may be on the wrong track and he had this in Widegates.
Many  thanks, Marton

Hi Marton

Do you have any other details on Samuel ...when and where born, family etc ... that will help us find him in the census.

Hi Marton

Have you found him in 1841? Do you know his parents and if his dad was a shoemaker aswell?

I have searched th National Archives ...but nothing yet .

When did Samuel and Harriet  die?

Thanks again! Samuel's father was a tenant farmer, Samuel is apprenticed in 1841 in St.Keyne ( up the road from Widegates) He  and Harriet died in 1901.
As I said, it was a forlorn hope that there was a record somewhere of his shop in St Germans.
