Elizabeth Jacob/s or Mann
« on: Friday 11 April 08 13:06 BST (UK) »

Hi Rootschatters, I am trying to find the birth details of Elizabeth Jacob born abt 1858 in Dersingham, Norfolk. the 1861 census shows her living at Terrington St. Clement age 3. Her father was Baxter Christmas Jacob and married  Mary Ann Mann in 1860 so she was born prior to the marriage. I have seached birth records and family search for Jacob, Jacobs (the "s" was introduced by Baxter) and Mann Any help, tips or comments appreciated. Many thanks, Geoff.

Could be she wasn't registered. It wasn't compulsory until 1875, and then I believe several still slipped through the net.

Hi,

The Mann family were a well known family in Dersingham. One of the Mann's was a Royal Firemen based on the Sandringham Estate (c:1901)
