Hi Toni,
Your posting is a little confusing.  You say that Thomas married Martha.  Here's the only marriage entry for a Thomas Punnett to a Martha from the Sussex Marriage Index (SMI) but it's after the baptism of the first child.  Did you get the baptismal information from the IGI, if so, was it extracted information?  If you could find the licence allegation it might give you more information.

Ninfield, East Sussex,    9 Dec 1678:
 Thomas PUNNET, (lic)
 Martha CRACKBONE, Hoe.

Then you say he married someone by the name of Ann.  Here's the only marriage to an Ann;

Dallington, East Sussex,    2 Apr 1711:
 Thomas PUNNITT, Hooe
 Ann SIMS, Hailsham

The marriage to Sarah White happened in 1716 not 1811  Cheesy

Hooe, East Sussex,    8 Nov 1716:
 Thomas PUNNET
 Sarah WHITE, wid.

Thanks for that info. Jane obvioyusly he couldnt have married in 1811 as he died in 1721, i meant he married in 1711.

Yes the baptisim dates were taken form IGI
Best Wishes

Hi Toni,
I noticed that only one baptism (attributed to a Thomas & Martha Punnett) on the IGI is extracted, Anne, 12/6/1681, Hooe.  The other two, Martha & Mary are member submitted so they need to be checked.  As luck would have it, someone is covering Hooe on the Online Parish Clerk (OPC) site  http://www.sussex-opc.org/  perhaps they could verify those baptism's & maybe find some more  Smiley

Hi Toni,
Looking back over postings, I think I have a good idea of how/when Thomas Punnetts (? - 1721) 3 marriages went.
I would be interested to know what info you have on the death of James Punnett (1684 - 1775), also what evidence that he went to Heathfield (or did he?)
I believe his gravestone may be somewhere in Old Heathfield churchyard.
Cheers

Smuggling rumours everywhere - I actually found a newspaper report of a Punnett caught smuggling (well, he says he found the casks of spirit floating) - but this was a bit more recent than we usually think of, 1860 or thereabouts.
