Is there anyone that can help overcome a rather large brick wall on my Harrison family? I have Edward Harrison born Staffordshire, i think, around 1800,married to Eugenia Harrison (nee Griffiths)born about 1802 in Gloucestershire. They had five children that i know of, the last being born in Cockshutt, Shropshire in 1841 so i presume that is where they were living in 1841 when the census was done. I am really struggling to trace them back any further as i have no birth date or exact place of birth for Edward or Eugenia and i wondered if there may be any helpful info on the 1841 census. Any help on this one would be really appreciated as i am unsure where to go next with this one. I know Edward died in 1844 so he will not be on any further censuses. many thanks Julie

Hi Julie
You don't give the children's names? That would help a great deal!
There is this little family, who are the only ones with a Eugenia that jump out:
HO107/918/11/8/19/7
Eugenia HARRISON 35 (no occupation stated) No Henrietta 14 - do - No Clara 7 - Yes Elizabeth 2 - Yes William 8 months Yes / William CHILTON 45 ag lab - Yes
Address: Brandwood, Middle, Shropshire
Not exactly the right location though.
Will look again if you can supply more info - Edward's occupation would also help.
Kind regards, Arranroots

Did Eugenia go on to marry William PRICE?
1851 census HO107/2021/513/8
William PRICE H M 60 - brick maker - Shropshire Mardol (sic) Eugenia W M 49 - do - Glostersh Whitminster Clara dau U 17 - do - Shropshire Mardol Elizabeth dau U 13 - do - do Sarah Ann dau U 6? - do Wem Margaret COLLINS lodger U 17 - screw maker - Ireland
Address: Duck Lane, Bilston, Staffordshire
The daughters Clara and Elizabeth seem to fit, although their birthplace has been transcribed as Mardol vice Middle. Eugenia's birthplace is clear enough - Whitminster, Gloucestershire.

Hi there,
Yes Eugenia did marry William Price and they had a daughter Sarah in 1845/46. I am afraid i don't know Edward Harrison's occupation, i was hoping to find that out as well. The family you have found look like the right one. They had the following children that i know of: Henrietta Eugenia born about 1826 Henry Edward born about 1830 Clara Matilda born about 1835 Elizabeth 1838 Emily 1841 Seeing as there are gaps there may have been others that i haven't found. Elizabeth and Clara were born in Myddle (Middle). Thanks for the info you have found for me. Edward seems to be rather a mystery. He should've still been alive in 1841 as they had another daughter after the census was done. I have found a death for 1844 as well. I thought with a name like Eugenia she would be quite easy to find. Thanks again Julie

Do you have the 1851 details? I can post them if you haven't.
It does seem to be the same family - like you I am puzzled about Edward being missing in 1841 - will have another look to see if he is nearby. Also the children who seem to be missing in 1851 - I can't find Henrietta, although there is a possible marriage for her in Walsall in 1849.
Let me know what you need & meanwhile I will look for Eddie!
Kind regards, Arranroots

The details for the 1851 would be good thanks. Henrietta married in 1849 to John Vallance and i have details of that family as they are also in my tree. I think that Henry Edward Harrison died in 1842 so he won't be on the 1851 census. Good luck looking for Edward! Thanks again Julie

Me again!
So the only Eddies in Shropshire or Staffordshire look snugly married to other people.
I need to ask - where do the details of Edward come from? Do you have any certificates - a child's birth, Edward's death for example? I think that is probably where you need to go next.
If you had Henrietta's marriage cert, that should give you info about Edward - but possibly it just says deceased?

No I don't have the marriage certificate for Eugenia or Edward's death certificate, i have just got the details from the BMG index. It seems rather a mystery really but thanks for the info you have found, i can use that. Maybe this is one brick wall i can't get over! Best wishes Julie
