US Passenger Ship Lookup Please.
« on: Sunday 13 April 08 20:16 BST (UK) »

I am trying to find a Thomas DAVIES, B.1849 a Carpenter, and Wife Ann DAVIES B 1850, together with his children Griffith Frederick DAVIES and twin Thomas John DAVIES  Born 1874, and David DAVIES  Born 1877 and Mary Elizabeth DAVIES B.1878. They appear on the 1881 UK census, so would have emmigrated Between 1881-1886. They returned home to Wales and in 1897 build two american style houses that still stand. They were all from  Llandybie Carmarthenshire, Wales.

If they went to New York you could try www.castlegarden.org but not much detail is given on the manifests at that time.

This could be an option

SS Ohio (American Line) leaving Liverpool bound to Philadelphia Pa Sept 1882

Ann Davis  (note spelling of last name) age 29 wife
Thos J 8 child
Griffith 8 child
David 4 child
Mary 3 child
William infant

No sign of husband, but could have gone earlier. Let me know what you think

Thank you very very much for the info: I will go back to the drawing board, and have a look. I looks quite good at the moment. Where did you get the details from as I have tried all the lists I could find. I will let you know what the outcome is. Thank you very much. Smiley

The first list with ann and family seems to fit the bill, I did not know about the infant William, but there was a story that one number of the family died in the US. I have searched and searched passenger lists, where did you get these details from? The house I was born in is shown on my profile. It was built in 1897 after the family returned. They are the only two of their kind in the UK and are Grade 2 listed buildings of interest and importance. Thank you kindly for the help you have given me.
                                                     Regards: Roger. Smiley
PS. Thomas DAVIES was a Carpenter/Joiner.

Roger,

Good luck with your search. I found the records at ancestry.com immigration. I searched  Griffith's name because it is the least common. Then I searched variants of Davies.
Your house looks very American.
