May I ask some body to look for a buriel of a John Reynolds in Newmarket between 1843 and 1851. His widowed wife was living in Newmarket in 1861 and was on the Saffon Walden common selling her wares in 1851. All their children were bapised at Christ Church Cambridge. The last child was born in 1843 so I am presuming that he died between 1843 and 1851. The family do not appear on the 1841 census for Cambridge. I have been looking for this buriel for years maybe another pair of eyes could help. Thank you in anticipation Sheila

I think I may have found this cert before but GRO would let me have it as I had the wrong occupation. I have found a web site which is good and seems to be able to obtain certs. Its called Discover your ancesters and they are £8.00

You get age at death on that site which might help pin it down - the 1842 death seems to have been age 57, and the other 5 deaths that show up between 1841-51 in Cambridgeshire seem to be too old or children.
Some clever people know how to interpret the reference - eg does SOH in the 1842 death indicate Soham, which is in Newmarket registration district?
A commercial outfit can't do any more than has been done so far in this thread, which is to check the index. For a pound they're not going to spend a lot of time on it!

I don't ever ask gro to check anything - I just give the reference, pay 7 pounds and pray it is my person! Thank you for the Cambridge reference David, I didn't know about it & have been doing a little research for a friend which seems to have got to Cambridge
