Albert Osborne born 1840 c St George Bristol. Cannot find him on either the 1851/1861 census. on the 1871 census he is married to Esther Nutty .
Have changed to surname to Osbourne but no luck.
Any help would be appreciated

So he only appears in 1871? Very Strange  I wonder if he had another name (perhaps his middlename?) he was known by?
Do you have an occupation for Albert? Or his marriage or birth certs which would give some family info?

On the 1861 census there is an Albert Osborne, 21 year old lodger with the Budding Family in Stroud. He is listed as a Railway Engine Fireman, place of birth is difficult to read but could be Kingswood (Bristol ) - RG9/1774/131/1

I've found Esther and children in 1891 - do you have this? Happy to post if not. Still no sign of Albert, Esther is married but Head of household. Do you have his death cert?

I think you all have found him, my cousin may or not be pleased to know what happened to him.. He was her Great Grandfather and she knew he had left his wife and family but what happened to him she did not appear to know. He was a Train driver so occupation correct.
But still would like to know who his parents were.

So he is still missing in 51 (and possibly 41 if he was born before the census). Don't have access to either of those I'm afraid but I'm sure someone else will be able to take a look. If you could find his birth reg your cousin could get his birth certificate and therefore get his parents details.

Just wanted to flag up the following...
One reason why he hasn't been found in 41/51 could be that his mother married or re-married after his birth and he appears under this name rather than Osborne. If he was illegitimate his marriage cert may have no father's name or an invented one. I agree with Valda that it needs getting as even if the father's name doesn't help the witnesses might.
