My ongoing search for the elusive JOhn Dagwell and his wife Alice nee Holmes has taken a small twist
I found a marriage of Alice Holmes to Cornelius Dagwell in 1877. THis is probably correcyt, daughter Ella was born 1879, and they are in the 1880 Census and missing totally after 1883 (apart from Ella)
I have still not found them later, though I do have a possible Cornelius in England, born in POrtsmouth.

No Ella was with her parents in 1880. She is in New Jersey in 1895 and 1900 Census
It is Alice and John/Cornelius who disappear

I did a little searching, and my guess is they died, to have left Ella as a 15-year-old on her own. I do find the family Ella was working for in 1895 and 1900 in Brooklyn in 1910, and Ella isn't with them.
