Boyds Marriage Index - WILKINSON
« on: Thursday 17 April 08 13:48 BST (UK) »

Hi

Would anyone be able to check for me to see if Boyds records a marriage between a Samuel Wilkinson and a Sarah ?  Samuel was born in the village of Ugley in Essex not sure about Sarah's birthplace - though I'm sure it was either in Ugley or fairly close by.  Their first child was baptised in Ugley's parish church in 1800 and Sarah was born c1781 so they would have probably married c1790/91/92?

Many thanks.

Theres this one, but a bit early.

1784 / WILKINSON  SAM / CANNING  SARA/  UGLEY

Are you sure of Sam and Sarahs ages, could there have been other children before 1800?

Hi

Many thanks for your response.  I found a son baptised in 1800, then three more with the last one in 1807.  I couldn't find any more baptised after that which if they were married in the early 1790s that would be a little odd as I know the family stayed in the village of Ugley.

There were other Wilkinsons married in the 1790s which I guess could be Samuel's siblings.  I have easy access to the ERO as I live in Chelmsford so when I go back I look at the marriage records for 1784 and see if I can find them.  I also look back in the baptismal records and see if I can place Samuel around the early 1760s.

I suspect this probably is my Samuel.  I can't remember how I put Sarah's birth c1781 perhaps it should have been c1761?  Once again thank you.  I'll let you know if I can tie it all in.
