Hi Derek
William was telling porkies about his age when he married
Was Emily's father Charles and her mother Rachel? Charles - probably a general labourer?
I will wait for confirmation of her parents names and will then post 1861 census details for you in case it's the wrong one
Here they are in 1871 living at White House Nutfield Surrey
William Withers 30 agricultural labourer & army reserve b Lambourne Berks Emily 23 b Croydon Surrey

Hi again
Where did you get his mothers name of Sarah from?
This IGI entry ties up with the 1881 census details and is an extracted record
WILLIAM WITHERS Christening: 04 OCT 1835 Lambourn, Berkshire Father: JAMES WITHERS Mother: MARY
JAMES WITHERS Spouse: MARY FISHER Marriage: 17 APR 1828 Lambourn, Berkshire Are any witnesses on the marriage cert called Withers? I have found an 1841 entry for James & Mary plus son William and 5 other children

Puzzling - there is only one Charles Barnett with a wife called Rachel in any county on the 1861 census
The IGI has a number of submitted entries re: the children of Charles and Rachel which means somebody else is researching the family
If that person has obtained the childrens birth certs then the maiden name must be Harvey
I notice that an Eliza?? has notified Ancestry of a mis-transcription of Rachel Harvey on the 1851 census
