Germany: Birth of Donald Ross 1886

Looking for help in finding  birth details of Donald Ross. Parents; Gilbert Grange Ross and Eliza Jane Ross (maiden name Gillon). Gilbert was born, I think, in Thurso in Scotland and Eliza was from England. In 1901 census Eliza is a widow living as a visitor in Dollar, Clackmananshire. With her is her 16 year old son Donald. It states simply on cenus form that his place of birth was Germany. Donald went on to be come a doctor in Argyll area of Scotland . Any help in getting more details of his birth would be very much apreciated.

Index to GRO Consular Births at Findmypast has a Donald ROSS born Mannheim (vol 10 page 973). No year is stated, but the date range of that section of the index is 1881-1885. Birth cert can be ordered the normal way, online from the GRO.  Suggest you use 1885 as the year, and they will search both sides of that year if necessary.
