I am looking for a marriage between William Palmer and Asinath unknown approx 1827/8 as their first child Selina Palmer was born around 1827/8 in Wotton under Edge. Bristol record office said by e mail that this was outside their juristiction.
William Palmer was born 1797 in Sherston Wiltshire and Asinath was born 1808/9/10/11 Bristol according to all census results
Possibly Dursley registration district.
any help with a look up will be apreciated

Hi Edna,
I`ve been trawling through my paperwork and this is the best I can come up with:-
William Palmer - Widower & Aseneth Parker - Spinster
15th July 1827 at Alderley - Banns
Alderley is only a couple of miles from Wotton under Edge

Sue this sounds interesting
I have the Sherston Magna family records dating back to 1650s and of this family there were six William Palmers born between 1782 and 1810 and I have traced four of them through the census
William Palmer married Sarah Neal in1808 and found him in 1841 census
William Palmer married Mary Hooper 1827 and found 1841 census
William Palmer married Elizabeth Jobbins in 1829 and found him in the 1841 census
I have found a William Palmer b 1806 from Sherston married to Ann in the 1841 census and all the above still living in Sherston Magna in the census.
I would love to know who his first wife was but she did not marry him in Sherston Magna that I know for sure from the above census records and the vital record index printout that I have.

I think this is a long shot but there is this marriage 
William Palmer & Ann Hobbs
7th July 1816 at Kingswood - Banns
Kingswood is very near Wotton under Edge.
And this burial:-
Ann Palmer - 28 - 3rd April 1827 at Alderley

This is looking very interesting now and the whole things seems to be falling into place. its just a pity the census only starts at 1841 isn't it

I have been looking up the census in search of Thomas son of William and Ann and I think I have found Charles brother living with them in 1871 so another good find came from this thread

Its been a long anxious wait but the cert has arrived and it is the right couple that you have found
16th December 1838 at Wortley Wotton under Edge Sarah father William Palmer Mother Asenath Palmer formerly Parker Labourer Xmark of mother
So where do I go from here have you any suggestions for me to follow up on the Parker line as I now think I can connect the Palmer to the Sherston Wiltshire families back to 1650 from the Vital records index.
