I had a cert for Sarah Palmer born Wotton under Edge to William and Asinath Palmer but unable to locate in now vol11 page 305
She is in the census 1841 & 1851 with parents but in 1861 her son William Terret Palmer is living with the grandparents William and Asinath but no sign of Sarah and no sightings of her since.
I have the birth cert for William Terret Palmer born 13th December 1854 to Sarah Palmer Sinwell wotton under Edge.
I have William Terret Palmer living with Grandmother Asinath in 1871 by now grandfather William Palmer has died and William Terret Palmer is in the 1881 census with wife Emma Nicholls and son William
In 1891 william is with wife Emma and children William Amelia Elizabeth Charles and then 1901 William and Emma are with childrenAlbert Caroline charles Elizabeth Emalia George Gilbert William and visitor Sarah Watkins age 20
There is no sign of Sarah Palmer 1839 in all of the census since her childhood and William Terret Palmer was born to her when she was 15 years old and unmarried.
I just dont know where to look for her.
The only clue is that in one of my searches for a marriage for Sarah I saw a marriage to a man called Walkins and he could be linked to the visitor Sarah Watkins in the 1901 census at Cannon Street W U Edge
I hope this is not too confusing

The above message There is a marriage on the same page of a Sarah Palmer and also an Albert George Walkins 1873 Mar qtr 6a 23 but may be coincidence and mean nothing.

{To find Sarah's mother's maiden name you will have to find or purchase the b-cert - if that's what you quote. A date of birth on the cert. might have helped}

{I often put messages (especially those which might confuse) into a word processor doc such as Wordpad: leave them for a day say, then open them whilst pretending to have no idea of the subject. I am really critical of what I might have written. When the message is "boiled down", I copy and paste it into an e-mail or whatever.}

But anyway, I have a fair bit of info from W-U-E (the BT's were awful to read) so if you know anything else which might help going back in time please give it.

P.S. Have a look in http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~hughwallis/IGIBatchNumbers/CountryEngland.htm for W-U-E. There's a William Palmer, his marriage will be in the chasm between 1812 and 1837 - if it's the one you want and I'm unable to help you out of that abyss!!

Have you looked at deaths for Sarah?
Do you have William's marriage cert or Sarah's parents' death certs and did she witness any of these?
Ihave had a good look and can't see her. She would have been rather old to be giving birth to Sarah WATKINS in c 1881, wouldn't she - unless she is her grandmother?

I have a Death cert for William Palmer b1797 Sherston died 29thJune 1868 age 75 Emma Collins the winess at death at Water Lane
I have the Death cert for Asinath Palmer born Bristol age 66 at death 5th June 1873 Emily Coble present at Death Water Lane W U E
I did not find a death fro Sarah but I did all this so long ago I cant remember I gave up on it for a while
I do not have Williams b1854 marriage cert to Emma Nicholls as I did not think this would lead me anywhere.
I forgot that the cert for Sarah would have given me the maiden name of Asinath I am on a tight budget so need only nessasary certs.
I checked the Hugh Wallis site and could not find anything as only females are transcribed I think and no marriages are there.
I have found in the census that Samuel Palmer born 1808 Sherston is living in WUE too and I think this could be a brother to William b Sherston
I have have two other threads running on this family on this board as well as one on the Wiltshire board from some time ago
ChasH I have not got the cert for William Spencer Palmer and will now take a look at the one you have pointed out.

Another thought.
Using the Hugh Wallis site, if you do not enter a surname in the search criteria for any batch you'll get the complete batch (Max 200 a go!). If, as might be likely, Asinath (unusual name) happens to be a family name used down the years, you could use a the "Find on this page" in the Tools menu to look for it hence (perhaps) Sarah's maiden name.
If it's a large batch it will take a while!

Sarah Watkins Wife Married 42 Wortley Gloucestershire
Sarah Palmer's birthplace was given as Wortley on the 1851 census.
I can't see an Alfred Watkins - accountant on earlier censuses but there is a possibility for an Albert - no occupation on the 1871 census, clerk on the 1861 census. Nothing after 1881.
There is an earlier census for a Sarah born Wortley.

Sarah Ponting 21 Wife Married Wortley Gloucestershire
I can't see a marriage for this couple (not the James Pontin marriage in Marlborough in 1860) or James Pontin(g) before or after this census, though a much older man's death was registered in Clifton in 1869.

This Sarah would tie in with the age of Sarah Palmer and the visitor Sarah Watkins in the 91 census Sarah would have been 34ish at the birth of Sarah if she was her daughter still of child bearing age.
This looks good I shall keep the record of it until I learn more.
To ChasH Sue Teakle has found a marriage for William and Asinath Parker in Alderly which ties in with a death she found for his first wife Ann Hobbs and has found the Baptisms for the first four children in the marriage so this looks good to me
I did a trawl through the marriages you suggested and found no Asinath in any family up to 3801 names up to Taylor so dont think they married there.
I shall send for the cert for the birth of Sarah to confirm the mothers maiden name for the one I found 1839 Mar Qt Dursley Vol 11 page 305 and that should confirm if SueTeakle is correct with the Alderly finds.
I hope I have answererd every question as I have found how difficult it is juggling three threads together.

Valda I think I may now search for Sarah's death at a young age first before ordering this cert but having probs with my computer or FTM 2006 as the family tree has dissapeared.
