Arborfield and Newland Parish Registers -Nurdin/en/ing
« on: Wednesday 16 April 08 11:13 BST (UK) »

Good morning   Smiley

I am searching for the baptisms of any children of Thomas James Nurdin and Annie Nurdin nee Moss, in Arbourfield address given as Newland. (I understand the parish church was Arborfield) between the years 1901 and 1906 (Annie died in 1906 in Wokingham Infirmary). Spelling of the surname is varied as you might expect.

Many thanks for reading this and here's hoping.

Kind regards

You might find the following local history site of interest

http://www.arborfieldhistory.org.uk/

Although I could not find anything directly relating to the Nurdin family.

Wokingham Infirmary would have been part of the workhouse which is now Wokingham Hospital in Barkham Road.  (which I have attended fairly recently for physiotherapy)  Most of the original buildings still exist.

Most people find it best to stick to civil registration for the 20th century or later. Is there any reason you can't do that?

How certain are you that all the births were in Berkshire? Since the parents married in Tetbury, might this be a bit restrictive?

Thanks for your reply and for thinking about my query.
We have the civil registration documents but there is an uncertainty over the first son registered as William James, but known to be called William Frederick on his two marriages where he gave his father's name as Thomas James Nurdin (and recorded as James in the 1901 census)
We have checked the Tetbury baptisms but as their daughter Annie was born in 1906 in Newland and her Mum died 13 days after, we suspect her baptism at least was there.
We do not have any idea when the family moved to Newland just they were there in 1906.
regards
