She was born in Birmingham, as Laura Florence Hancock and married Alfred Heller...

I can see her on the 1891 census with her widowed, mother and you can see her on the 1881, free of charge, working as a Nurse in Chelsea http://www.familysearch.org/

I can also see Laura in 1901 with her husband, if you are interested. He was Austrian. They have no children on the 1901 census.

You will be able to see Laura’s family on the 1881 census, if you wish to do so, by searching for (her mother) Malvina Hancock born 1836 Cornwall. Her father is James and they are living at South Hayling.

There are a few deaths registered in the name of John Scarr in that period. Because ages at death are not shown until much later, it is not possible to be sure which one is yours. However, because of their location in 1841, this might be the most likely.....

The next 3 Census records state her birth place  Middleton Tyas
Why would her birth place change? Error?

On the 1871 census, the last person in the previous family is a visitor from Whitby. The birthplaces of James and Elizabeth Scarr are both dittoed down from that entry.

I would think that it is a mistake by the enumerator.

Ive found a Rebecca Manson b 1821 in Whitby on IGI..parents Magnus Manson and Alice...so she is 20 on the 1841 and not 80  Grin

Magnus and Alice Manson also have a dau Jane b 1816 in Whitby....I cant find a marriage for Jane Manson to a Nicholson though.. but it does seem a possibility.
