Born in England, but now an Aussie
|
Hi, just getting back into my Mums side of the family who lived in Crabtree cottage Benenden, their names were George and Ellen White, this was around 1873,he was a game keeper, so I was wondering if the cottages belonged to a big house, and he worked for the owners, and do they still exist, if anyone can help that would be great, Christine.

Hi Christine
Some of my ancestral cousins were servants and game keepers there - I'll check the full details but the owner was a senior political figure.

Hi Christine
Crabtree, Cranbrook Road, Benenden appears as a listed building on the Images of England site with a photograph:

Hi Christine
If you look at "Crabtree" on the Images of England site, there is a note to say that it was used as a residence for gamekeepers within living memory
