Crabtree cottages benenden

Hi, just getting back into my Mums side of the family who lived in Crabtree cottage Benenden, their names were George and Ellen White, this was around 1873,he was a game keeper, so I was wondering if the cottages belonged to a big house, and he worked for the owners, and do they still exist, if anyone can help that would be great, Christine.

Some of my ancestral cousins were servants and game keepers there - I'll check the full details but the owner was a senior political figure.

Take a look at RG12/694 Folio 158 Page 3 , Hemsted, Benenden, Kent.  Household of Viscount Cranbrook, Lord President of the Council. She is there as Alice Burgess (indexed as Burgers) b. Denbighshire. The last entry for the household - the dairy maid!



I later found that her aunt had worked there  and married the then gamekeeper  Smiley

thanks for that,I looked up Hemsted house, so maybe my Mums gg grandfather was game keeper there, just wondering about crabtree cottages, not sure if they were nearby,  they also lived in hazleden cottages, anyway thanks for the help, if anyone knows where the cottages are I would be grateful.

If you look at "Crabtree" on the Images of England site, there is a note to say that it was used as a residence for gamekeepers within living memory Undecided
