Hi can anyone help? I've got a baptism date for William Henry Howell son of William Henry (1) and Mary Ann Howell for 2nd Oct 1827, St Nicholas Church. All details on this i.e address and occupation of William senior (hairdresser) fit with family on 1841 census. However on this census William Henry's (2) year of birth is given as 1829 and his brother Valentine as 1827. I also have the date 12/2/1829 for William's birth but unfortunately didn't record where this came from (I'm more careful now!) William's death is recorded as Sept 20th 1890 at age of 61, thus making him born in 1829. Could the family have muddled the children up in early life?
Can any one solve this puzzle?

There is also IGI extracted Christenings of Howell children-all St Peter Liverpool all Parents William henry /mary Ann
harriet 10 Dec 1830 margaret Kenneston Howell 16 Aug 1832 William Henry 12 feb 1829
so possibility-earlier William Henry died or he was of another family-with similar named parents
his christening was at a different church

Thanks - this makes sense as I have Elizabeth, Valentine, Harriet and Margaret in the tree with dates approx the same.
I think your idea about the earlier William dying could be correct as he would have been the eldest son and therefore more likely to have been named for his father. So when he died the 3rd son to be born was named William to keep the family name going. Good job they had big families!
Thanks again.

it is also possible the henry baptised at St nicholas is of a different family There is a henry with mother mary living warrington in 1841 -in 1851 he is in Cheshire but age and p.o.b. (liverpool) fit in with the baptism- and he eventually ends up in Swansea
but at least you've found your William
