Hi,

I would like some help in tracing an ancester on the 1861 Census. His name is William Parry born approx 1853 in Denbigshire, according to 1871 Census he was a servant on a farm and was born in Abergele but the 1881 Census shows he was born in Bettws. I have viewed the 1861 Census on Ancestry.co.uk. but unable to see him listed. I do not know the name of his parents or if he had any brothers or sisters. Any info that I could use is appreciated.

Just checking. is he the one with wife Harriet, living llysfaen in 1881 - RG11/5582 Folio 26 page 45?

The easiest way to find his father's name would be to obtain a marriage certificate for him.

I notice that the eldest child was born circa 1876, Llysfaen which is in the Conway Reg District but I can't find a suitable marriage to a Harriet on FreeBMD around then  Undecided

It might mean getting Catherine Elizabeth's birth certificate to find out Harriet's maiden name and working from there  Undecided

Have you found him on the 1891?

The 1891 RG12/4673 Folio 56 Page 16 also has him born Abergele.

and the 1901 RG13/5289 Folio 24 page 37 has him born Bettws, Abergele.

I think his birth place is likely to be Bettws yn Rhos - about 8-10 km to the south West of Abergele.

Hi,

Thanks for the info - I have found his marriage it was in 4th Qtr 1875 to Harriet Parry as per Ancestry.co.uk. I have also found him on 1891 and 1901 census.
