Hi Bearkat,
Thanks for the help!! My question, how do I prove who williams parents are? Possibly is George and Elizabeth H, but without a birth cert or parish register of the birth, who knows.
Interesting that there is a hale street, will need to look on Google earth too find out where Tonbridge and Trowbridge, beingt in Aust I wouldn't have a clue.
Do you know if we can access IGI batch numbers at any LDS Family History Centre. I think I will have to see if I can contact the local parishes.
Thanks everyone for the help, I am new to this and have found almost everything else i wanted but William Beachm appeared to be my enigma.
Cheers Tanya

IGI batch numbers for British parishes can be found via this site:
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~hughwallis/IGIBatchNumbers.htm
Tonbridge and Trowbridge are about 150 kilometres apart - maybe not much by Aussie standards but by British ones, that's a fair hoof. Tonbridge is yet another county further east.
As I said before, the IGI is not complete and should be used as a guide only.

I got the record from the IGI and so I cnnot view the original records. LDS site has only transcribed records. There is a new site in progresss but does not cover Hale I'm afraid.
I think though to say William was born in/around Hale may be safe. The IGI can not be heavily relied on, as members submit details, not record offices.
Matt.

The records for William Hale from the IGI are SUBMITTED records from LDS members and are therefore to be treated with extreme caution. But if you can get to an LDS Family History Centre then you should be able to order the film of the records (for a small fee) to search at the centre. The Family History Catalogue lists the parish registers of Hale.
You will still need to find some sort of link to the William Beacham in Sussex before you can claim either of the William Beachams apparently baptised in Hale, some fifty or sixty miles distant. I know people moved around a lot more than we sometimes think, but you don't want to follow the wrong lead too far without proper proof.
