I have ancestors from Darfield - i havent heard of tyas hill - could it be the same place as 'Tyersall' - a farm-house in the township and parish of Darfield, 3 miles from Barnsley (from Genuki)
Just a thought Alison

Thanks for the ideas - but this is definite birth to a Prince Frederic of a son Jos Frederic at Tyas Hill, I got it from the Darfield Parish registers. I have googled them and Tyas Hill and nothing really. I'll have to look at the records again as I think I saw another reference to Prince Frederic, maybe a burial. It has nothing to do with my ancestors from Darfield area - it is just intruguing. Jackie

Hi again - I have done another search of the Darfield Parish Records and find:
Sorry I missed that the son Jos Frederic had the surname WOOD.
Between1740 & 1850 there are 19 baptisms for chidren born at Tyas Hill and 8 burials also Baptisms 1781 Jos Frederic Wood of Prince Fred of Tyas Hill 1783 Prince Fred Ward son of Prince Fred of Tias Hill 1788 Charles Ward son of Prince Fred of Millhouse 1790 Charlotte Ward dau of Prince Fred of Millhouse 1793 Peter Ward son of Prince Fred of Millhouse
Burials
1789 Charles Wood son of Prince Fred of Millhouse 1794 Peter Ward son of Prince Fred of Millhouse 1800 Joseph Ward son of Prince Fred of Millhouse
1809 at a Darfield wedding 'in the presence of Prince Fred Ward
There is a family with the surname PRINCE but not at Tyas Hill or Millhouse and they only ever have PRINCE as a surname.
I am more interested now as I see that one of may family names (BroadHead) are also living at Tyas Hill during this time - Jackie
