If she was in a home she should still be on the census.

I cant find her either, nor a death for her.

I see from her birth registration she is Frances Elizabeth, not that it helped me find her - but may help someone else

Hi marlowmags
I have been searching for Frances but can't find her either.

What happened to Sarah Ann, did she marry?  If so, have you checked on the census to see if Frances was living with her? What was her married name?

Imbecile is a horrid word they used in those days.  It could just have been that Frances had some sort of impedement that prevented her from working.  I see her father Charles married a woman half his age soon after Ann died, so she might not have wanted Frances living with them. She may have gone to live with other relatives or even got married (though not found a marriage for her as yet).

Usually the so called Aslylums come up on the census when a name is being searched.  My own great great Aunt was in one in Barton, purely because she was blind and could not look after herself.

What other information do you have on Frances?

I found Sarah Ann's christening in Wharton May 3rd 1866 (her father Charles was a groom at the time), but have not found Frances' who I see was born in Over.

Will take another look for you.

Kind regards
Su

Hi Maggie
So far all I have come up with is George on the 1891

RG12/2859 folio 60 pg 3

Clutton Sub Dist Tattenhall

George Ravenscroft single 21 Farm Servant born Over

There are numerous marriages for a George Ravenscroft

The only Sarah A Ravenscroft marriage I can find is in 1899 to Joseph Blythin at St. Mary Doddleston

So far I haven't been able to find her on the 1891 and there is no sign of Frances as yet, sorry.

Kind regards

Hi Maggie
Just a bit of advice to try to save some money.  When you send in the form for the marriage of Sarah Ann, tell them that you only want the certificate if her Father is Charles Ravenscroft.  That way they will return your cheque if it is the wrong Sarah Ann.

Also, if you ring the Crewe registration office and ask them to clarify that it is definitely Frances 'C' Ravenscroft and not 'E'which is an easy mistake to make, you could also ask them if her father is Charles.  They should say yes or no, but they might not tell you what the name is, which wont matter if its not Charles  Grin
The local offices are usually very helpful and obliging.

Kind regards
