Hello Ann The Caswell Family i have taken back to Robert Caswell born 1568 at Yatesbury.He married Mary(Marie) Chilchester at Heddington in 1593 They had 9 children one being John born 1594 he married Joan Pointing of Christian Malfor at Calne in 1658 They had 2 sons Robert b 1659 John b1658 and in 1686 he married Elizabeth Flower They had 11 children on being Thomas b 1698 and he marriedElizabeth ?? i believe at Bishop Cannings They had 3 sons one being Timothy b1720 He married Jane Wakefield b1724 at Bremhill in 1756 They had 5 children one being William b 1759 who married Elizabeth They had 8 children one being Timothy b1790 who married Sarah Sawyer in 1815 at Ogbourne St Andrews they had 12 children as you probibly no, one being Joseph b 1827 who married Harriett Potter in 1849 they had10 children one being my grandfather Frank Hope all this makes sense to you i look forward to hearing from you best regards spec

In the name of God Amen I Thomas caswell of the Parish of Bremhill in the county of Wiltshire being sick and weak in body but of sound mind and memory and thank God for the same do make my last Will and Testament in manner and formas follows I give and bequeath to my beloved wife ELIZABETH all that my Freehold Estate now being situated in Tetherton in the Parish of Bremhill and County of Wiltshire and the apportences there and belonging so long as the said ELIZABETH CASWELL shall live and my will is that after the decease of now loving wife all that my Freehold Estatewith the apportences shall be equally divided between my four sons John Caswell Timothy Caswell Thomas Caswell and James Caswell share and share alikeif they should so long life and my will is that if eitherof my named sons should die then his children shall have his share equally divided I give and bequeath to my loving wife the residue remainder of my goods and chattels effects and implements houshold and personal estate whatsoever,after all my debts and funeral expenses shall be paid I do make and ordain full and hold electrix of this my last will and testament I give unto my dear friend BROOM ROGERS of Tetherton HALF A GUINEA of good lawful to be put by hand of me ELECTRIX within the space of one whole year after my decease whom i nominate and appoint to trustee for my wife and i do make void all manner of wills and testerment and do make this my last will and testerment.and have today set my hand and seal this nineth day of november in the year of our lord one thousand and seven hundred and sixty five signed and sealed by Thomas CASWELL At Bremhill on the sixteenth day of december 1768 the oath was administrated to Elizabet caswell will was probated 26th december which must have been when he died THOMAS was what was known as a YEOMAN FARMER in the presence of BROOM ROGERS ELIZABETH ROGERS and DANIEL SMITH THATS ONE SPEC

In the name of god Amen I JOHN CASWELL of Backonton in the parish of Abury County of Wiltshire being weak in body but of good and perfwct mind and memory praise be therefore given the almighty god do make and ordainthis my present last will and testament in manner and form following /that is to say ***principally i command my soul into the hands of almighty god hoping through the mortal death and passion of my savior jesus christ to have full and free pardon and forgiveness of all my sins and to inherit everlasting life and my body i commit to ye earth to be decently buried at ye discretion of my executors hearafter named.and as touching the discretion of all such temporal estates goods and chattl as it hath pleased god far above my deserts to bestow upon me i give and dispose thereof as follows----- first i will that all*****and dues as i owe in right or ****to any manner of person or persons shall be well and truly paid or ordered to be paid within convienient time after my death by my executors herinafter named and also i will that all my funeral charges shall be paid and discharged by my executors .I give my loving son Richard Caswell the sum of five shillings if demanded,My son Thomas Caswell the sum of five shillings if demanded i give untomy loving son Michael Caswell the sum of one hundred pounds of good and lwfull money of great britain to be paid unto him when my executors herinafter named shall think fit for him to have it.my loving so Edmond Caswell my freehold estate being and lying in ye Tythings of BORTON EASTON in the parish of Bishops Cannings,for him to have my said estate after ye decease of Elizabeth my loving wife -- and ---forward to remain after ye decease of my loving wife to remain to my son Edmondand his heirs be it male or femaleto ye end of the world but if my son Edmond should chance die before he possessed of it or after he is possessed of ye w estate and leave no heirs to inherit it then i give it to my loving son Richard and his heirs for ever and my son Richard it do live pocess my w estate then he shall pay my son Michael Caswell the sum of £150 of good and lawful moey og Great Britain but if my son Richard Caswelldo live and chanceto be possessed of my freehold estate and my son Michaelshould die before my son Richard possess and he my son richard caswell should chance to be possess after my son Michael is dead than i will that my son Richard Caswellshall pay £150 as he was to pay my son Michael CASWELL.To all my grandchildren to be equally divided among them all as each of my grandchilodren may have his equal part of it,item i give unto my loving daughter Mary Baskifill the sum of five shillings if demanded,i give my son in law Francis Baskifill the sum of five shillings if demanded,i give my son in law John Pope if he be living ye sum of five shillings to be paid if demanded,i give my grandchildren my son William Caswells children son Richard Caswells children for each to have five shillings and to be paid by my execotors --all that ***residue of my personal estate goods and chattels whatsoever i do give and bequeath unto Elizabeth my loving wife and i do make her my full and sole executor of this my last will and testerment and i*****that my body in a decent christian manner at ye descretion of my exectors and i do here by revoke disanul,and make void all former wills and testerments in word or written by me hereto saw made and this to be taken only for my last will and testerment and none other in witness therof i***_* John Caswell Senior do make this my lasy will and testement being contained in one sheet of paper have set my hand at the bottom of it and set my seal this 13th day of April 1735 signed sealed and published and declared in thee presence of Nickolas Pope Marlborough 9th day July 1735 the mark of Joseph Chivers John Downford snr at the home of Elizabeth Caswell executor above named was duly sworn before me John Neurse surrogate and thats it

Hi spec,
My line starts with a Thomas Caswell, no idea where he came from but he married Margaret Pitcher in Netherbury, Dorset in 1784 so he was probably born around 1764.
His son Clement b1792 moved to Dundee before 1817 and then Berwick upon Tweed in the 1820s.
Clement's son John moved to the Durham area in the 1840s. Two generations later the line moves back to Dorset where my father was born.
I've seen some of the Wiltshire Caswell's trees and they are filled with some excellent research.
