I have traced one line of my family from my home city of Bristol to Wickhambrook, Suffolk.
According to a submitted entry on the IGI, David Sharpe (my GG Grandfather) was christened in Wickhambrook, 14 July 1822. His parents were John & Elizabeth Sharpe. This ties in with information I have on the 1841 census. The source information on the IGI is Batch No: C132331, Source Call No: 0989534.
I would like a copy of the original entry for my file, but unfortunately a trip to the Suffolk Record Office is not practical. I have thought about ordering the relevant film from the LDS, but being fairly new to this I do not have the experience. I note the Batch only covers the period 1821-1822, so may not be useful in tracing siblings or possibly the parents marriage.
Can anyone advise me of the best way of viewing the parish records locally.
Failing this I may have to ask a kind local Rootschatter to obtain a hard copy for me. I would of course reimburse them for their efforts. Suffolk RO wanted to charge me 80p for the copy plus £5.00 p&p.
Just looked at the LDS family history library catalogue the source call number which is the number of the film that you would need to order from the LDS and it appears to only cover part of 1822 (there is another film for 1822) and is Bishops Transcripts, not Parish Registers.
