I'm not yet convinced that 1901 census entry is her, especially as it seems by her entry into the workhouse that she had a stepbrother - and the family found previously shows no remarriage between 1881 and 1901. It's possible that her father died young and her mother remarried Mr Brockwell, but I can't find a suitable marriage.
I would suggest getting Roland's birth certificate, as so far that's the only firm link we have (unless Dawn turns up more next time she goes to the LMA).
It seems more than a coincidence that Ellen SIMMON`S occupation is of a Dressmaker on the 1901 census and that on her daughter`s birth certificate she is documented as formely being a Sewing machinist of Tottenham Parish.
However, the variation in the spelling of SIMMONS could be the problem.
Once I have established that Ellen SIMMOND`S admitted to the Workhouse on 14 October 1901 is the same person who gave birth to a daughter in the Workhouse in March 1902 then I will have confirmation that I am on track.
Brockwell /Brackwell aside - Please can I request a Lookup when you are at the LMA to see if Ellen SimmonDs is the same Ellen SimmoNS that gave birth to a daughter Violet - March 1902 - Union workhouse Edmonton - father not named.
