The only obvious John b 1760 is age 81 and married to Mary aged 70. John is a ship builder and they're living in Byker with an Eleanor Reed and a Reynold's family .
If your John was born in 1760, there's a (high) possiblity he has died by 1841 ....

Thank you Ruskie i thought maybe i cud link the John/Sarah as a child of john b.1760.... i will keep this info and see how i get along with, thank you so much. alos, maybe if u dont mind helping me with another llokup please i would be more than grateful to you..
this is a lookup for my Ferens family, who for a number of years have caused me a bit of a problem to say the least.. I have a borth cert for a child John Ferens born 16 Sept 1844 at 13 Blenheim st Newcastle, his parents were john Ferens and Ann Dodds and the lady in attendance at the babies death ( baby only lived half an hour) was a Ann Oliver. Now then.. the names are so strange because my g g grandfather married an Ann Dodds of Sunderland back in 1835 and one of his brothers siblings married an Oliver.... So i am thinking that somewhere this baby and his parents are of my FErens family but i cant seem to find this john Ferens and Ann Dodds anywhere...Would you please be able to do a census lookup for me of 1841 for newcastle and maybe the 1851.. this is a mystery i would like to solve and put this john Ferens to rights!
Thank you ever so much
Regards Sam-Ann

Sorry sam-ann, I've been unable to find your Ferens either.
In the whole of the 1841 census there are only 13 Fer(r)ens in Durham. There are no John Ferens. There is an Ann with probable husband Robert and daughter Mary in Painshaw.
There are only 6 Fer(r)ens in 1851 in Durham - no John or Ann.
It appears to be a fairly rare surname. Perhaps they have been mistranscribed. I hope someone will be able to step in and lend a hand here as I'm having no luck at all.

Hi Ruskie thank you for your help. I do have a Robert and Ann, that is the Robert who married Ann Dodds from Sunderland but they didnt have a son John born 1844. It just seems strange that the babies father on the birth and death cert is given as john Ferens and the mother as Ann nee Dodds... the surname FERENS is spelt correct, its my late mothers maiden name. robert was my gg grandfather and he married Ann Dodds in 1835, and in 1836 Robert and Ann had a daug Mary Jane and Robert was a miller. At this time he had bought the Gaunless Mills in Bishop Auckland and that was the start of the 100yrs of the House of Ferens at those mills! this baby has caused us some headaches trying to find this John/Ann the babies parents, the baby was called after the father John. It very strange, could they have put the wrong fathers name? But the baby being called after him....Also, i cant find a marriage for this john and Ann,total nighmare.
thank you all for your help its very much appreciated.
Regards Sam

Thanks Jen .
It certainly IS a mystery - how frustrating ...
Did your Robert have a brother/cousin called John? Just wondering if Ann and John 'got together" to produce baby John? An affair perhaps?

Hi Ruskie Out of ALL my Ferens great grand parents this robert and Ann dodds are the only ones that are hard to keep tracks with! from his marriage to Ann in 1835 at Sunderland i have only found 2 children for them, both girls. The only other info of Robert/Ann i have is both of themon the 1861 cen living at Long Row Fatfield and on the 1871 Robert is a widower still living at Long Row, Fatfield. Now going back to the death cert of the baby john Ferens, born to John Ferens and Ann Dodds ( mother formally Dodds) so they were married i suppose so i cant be the same Ann Dodds as at the time of the babies birth 1844, Robert Ferens was married to Ann dodds.
what i am thinking is going by the name of the lady in attendance at the babies death, states on the death cert Ann Oliver present at time of death. Ok, a daug of my 5 x g grandfather John Ferens married a Nicholas Oliver, so that is where the Oliver connection is coming from there..i think..and i know my gggggg grandfathers son, who was named after him, another John Ferens was born at Newcastle 1814. Did this john grow up to be the babies father? That would have been 3 generations of a John Ferens. Just the similarities are the same, John, Oliver, Newcastle....but what happened to this John Ferens and Ann (formally) Dodds after the babies death in 1844 form Blenheim st Newcastle i dont know...
It has puzzled my sister and i for a very very long time.
Regards Sam-Ann
