Oh my goodness you guys!!

Shocked

What a lot of great info you found for me. I had stumbled on that Ann Edgeworth birth myself but was unsure it was the right one...so thats great, I can get that cert.

This is really great. You guys are the best. I have to get my maps out of the area though...the hard part of being across the ocean. lol
But its really rewarding to finally have some info on this family...now if only I could find where Edward was following the sheep. lol

Just looked through the 1891 census for Blockley! (34 pages!)

No sign of Lamb Cottages. Nor of the name of thefarm they went with. Mary Holton has given up farming and is living on her own means in the village. There is a Park Farm occupied by a younger Holton, which may or may not be the farm that Edward shepherded on 10 years earlier, but no sign of any shepherd now - obviously cut down in teh previous 10 yrs.

Only Turner of any sort I saw in the village at all was
High Street
Lydia Turner Mar 45 bn Moreton Gloucestershire
Sidney?? W son  9 bn Blockley
Richard Stanley lodger 59

no sign of a husband

So - wherever they are , they have moved on from Blockley!

Hmmph - still cant find him in 1891 or 1901.

Do you know what happened to any of the children? I was thinking for example, did Fanny marry? if so what is her dad named as on marriage cert, and is he deceased, and what is his occupation?
might give us an idea if he was a career shepherd, or if he had other skills.

Fanny was my great grandmother so yep she married.  Wink
AND I have her marriage cert. She married a Richard Bridges in Snowshill in 1902. Her father is listed as an Edward(could also be Edwain...there's a line through it) Turner, labourer. Kind of vague. lol
But it says she was living in Snowshill at the time of marriage.
According to bits I got out of my grandfather, Fanny's brothers Alf and Tom both married Flo Bridges (Richard's sister) and Edith married too.

Mar 1913  Solihull            Alfred F Turner m Florence M Bridges
Mar 1923  Cheltenham    Thomas H Turner m Florence M Turner

...which seem to fit the Alfred Fredrick Turner (1882) and Thomas Henry Turner (1884) names/births.

Hey yesterday I was browsing through a Cotswolds genealogy site (which isnt working today  Cry )...and I found Annie's parents in the 1881 census in Stanway...

When I was looking for them in the 1891 Stanway census, they werent there, but I stumbled across this

Edward Turner      40   ag labourer     b. Shipston on Stour
Anne                     35                          b. Adlington
Alfred                      8   scholar            b. Blockley
Thomas                   7   scholar            b. Blockley
Alice Jane                3                          b. Longborough

Do you think this might be them??? Just with weird different birthplaces.
The Alfred and Thomas match the possible births you guys found.

Looks good. What is the reference and where were they?
There is a St Dennis in Honington close to Shipston on Stour.

I've found it on ancestry indexed under Thomas (but Turner on the page).
Alice Jane's birthplace is Loughborough.

We know they were in Blockley 10 yrs earlier, so the boys being bn there 8 n 7 yrs before makes sense.

Think you have got them!!!!!!!!
