Thanks Dave, do you know if the parish records would hold more info? And how would I obtain that information, I live in Queensland Australia. Cheers Karen

Hi Karen,
I think you will find Dave has provided the information directly from the Parish Records. Unfortunately marriages prior to the forms arrival in 1754 contain no further information. It is just one line in the register containing the two names and the date.
I wonder if the two births you quote may be a little late since I note Joane BOWELL was baptised 6 March 1635 Mere parents Richard and Margarie
Cheers Kris

No wories Kaz, as Kris said, generally at that time the PRs only give the information I mentioned. It wasn't until much later that the fathers, ages, place of residence etc were mentioned.
Baptisms of the 17th and 18th century often only give the father's first name and rarely the mother's name. Some parishes , if you're lucky give a great deal if info, such as father's occupation, date of birth etc, but it all depends on the vicar or whoever writes up the records. The quality of writing varies and I've seen some where it would appear that the vicar may have been on the sacramental wine!! The jumble sometimes has to be seen to be believed with births, marriages and deaths all on the same page with no recognisable order. A bit different from the net.
Cheers Dave
