Sylvia
I have done a bit of work on the Nicholas family of Cloford.
Do you want to compare notes?
Kind regards

Thank you that would be wonderful. Mary Nicholas married George Joyce in Cloford 29th April 1805, He was born in Nunnery in 1761 i believe, however I havent researched that line properly. I know nothing else about Mary, I assumed she was born in Cloford but could be wrong Hoping you can help Sylvia

Hi Sylvia
I may be a bit of a disappointment to you.
I started with James NICHOLAS born about 1760, who married at Cloford on 3 Feb 1785 to Mary CLARK. They had nine children between 1786 and 1799, but no Mary early enough to be married in 1805.
It would be unsual for a man to marry for the first time at the age of 44, so you may find that George JOYCE had been married previsouly (and may even have had an earlier family) when he married Mary NICHOLAS.
I will keep an eye out for your couple.
Kind regards
Philip Candy
